Drums
I love music. I know that's such a cliché thing to say and I probably sound extremely tumblr-y right now but seriously. Sometimes the only thing that will get me through a long day is pulling on my noise cancelling headphones and listening to whatever. It doesn't matter what, I can listen to anything.
Live music is my favourite. It doesn't matter what genre you listen to, it's such an incredible experience being part of an atmosphere where people love music. I love everything, from pop concerts and being thrown around in mosh pits, to ballet and live shows in Vegas to $10 drag shows. When music is involved, I'll be there. When you're listening to a recording of something, you don't feel the same connection to the sounds. They've been fine tuned and fitted into someone's image of 'suitable'. But when you see something live, you feel the raw emotions and feelings the musicians are feeling.
Wow, I just realised how hippy and awful that sounded but whatever, it's staying in.
Musicians are my weakness. A guy tells me he can play an instrument and I go weak at the knees. I once dated a guy for the sole reason that he played the drums. Not that he played them for me or anything but the fact that someone can express themselves through music is truly admirable.
And that's why I've decided to learn drums. They're such a beautiful instrument and not only that, drums are the core of almost any music. Drums hold the rhythm of the music and create structure for the other instruments. Also, I want to do the banging and the smashing xD
So yeah, I'm going to be the next Phil Collins. I'll keep you posted on my road to musical fame.
