Okay so I have a confession to make. I'm actually a terrible person. I'm pretty sure I've mentioned before my personal battle with need for popularity and I really do hate myself for trying to fit in for all those years. I gave up on things that I enjoyed and did things I didn't like doing just so that people that didn't like me very much would accept me. Hindsight is a wonderful thing and there's no point reminiscing on what I should or shouldn't have done. Instead, I have to look forward.

One of the things I gave up because it wasn't "cool" was reading. When I was a little girl, I would sit for hours on end, reading book after book. I used to get lost in the lives of all the characters, dreaming my life away on a fairy-tale. That's where my passion for writing came from. I read all these books and heard other people telling me their stories and I wanted to do the same thing.

I haven't picked up a book in a long time. But, like I said, things are going to change. I have no-one holding me back anymore. I can do whatever I like and the first plan I have for this year is to start reading again.

25 Books I'm Definitely Going To Read This Year:

  1. The Art of Fielding by Chad Harbach
  2. Trainspotting by Irvine Welsh
  3. Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Stephenson
  4. A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin
  5. The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper by Phaedra Patrick
  6. A Maze of Death by Philip K. Dick
  7. A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking
  8. 1984 by George Orwell
  9. Mythology by Edith Hamilton
  10. The Original Folk and Fairy Tales by The Brothers Grimm
  11. The Ocean at the End of The Lane by Neil Gaiman
  12. The Invisible Library by Genevieve Cogman
  13. The House on Cold Hill by Peter James
  14. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
  15. Catch-22 by Joseph Heller
  16. The Heart Goes Last by Margaret Atwood
  17. An Abundance of Katherines by John Green
  18. The Bees by Laline Paull
  19. How To Ruin Everything by George Watsky
  20. The Age of Zeus by James Lovegrove
  21. The Golem and the Djinni by Helene Wecker
  22. The Ghosts of Heaven by Marcus Sedgwick
  23. The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson
  24. Room by Emma Donoghue
  25. The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien
The plan is to review them on a Friday every time I finish one. However, it's not going to be every week because I'm still a busy woman. I got shit to do. Also, there's going to be other things I want to review so some are going to get put on hold while I do that. I'm not going to promise that I'm gonna read them all, because everyone here knows I can't keep a promise. I am going to try my best though. I've already started on and, at the rate I'm reading it at, I might be done by next week. These also aren't the only books I'm going to be reading this year. So, if anyone has any more recommendations for me, feel free to let me know.
