EVERYTHING IS AWESOME

by - 15:20

Alright so this is the only part of this blog that is somewhat regular. If you don't like seeing the same thing over and over again,  maybe give Friday posts a miss.

Music

I'm starting with this one because I want all of you to listen to the song while you read. You may not like the song but it's only three and a half minutes long. Those three and a half minutes are already being wasted by reading this junk so just humour me...? Call a tradition. The song is called Talk is Cheap and it's by Chet Faker. (Link here) I've opened up to a lot of different genres of music recently and I've been pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoy this style of music. The whole relaxed, acoustic-y trip-hip-y has really caught my eye and there are some really incredible under-appreciated artists out there.

Drink

Jägermeister. No, I'm not an alcoholic. I'm at the flat and its all warm and cosy in my bed but I'm sat here on a stack of pillows on top of a toy box writing this. No, I do not resent the fact I have to write this blog or the fact that most people I know are out either partying or on holidays or somewhere much more exciting than central Scotland. I love this blog and it has given me a creative outlet that I previously didn't have. However, I'm not used to having responsibilities and 5 days a week is a lot of days to keep something up. I've promised myself that Jäger if I can finish this post before midnight. It's 10.30.

Place

The flat. In complete contradiction to my previous point, this place is my paradise. There's only one bed in it at the moment so, whenever I'm here, I find a way to stay over night and it feels like my own place. I have no one barging in to my room when I'm working, no screaming teenage girls I can hear through the walls. I'm not a loner, I just like to be in my own company every once in a while. I don't have to worry about running around after my mum or getting up early for roll call or whatever. I can do what I like, when I like at my own pace. It's the freedom of independence with the added bonus of not having to pay rent.

Thing to Watch

Fresh Meat. No. It's not porn. You know when it's like 1am but you can't sleep, so you put on a random Netflix comedy series to fill the silence. No? Just me then. Regardless, this is a lot better than I was expecting it to be. It's a Channel 4 series available on 4OD and British Netflix as far as I'm aware. It's all about a group of college students living in Manchester in student housing. There's no serious storyline and it's not particularly deep or philosophical. I just find it hilarious. Not to mention that the funniest man on the planet, Jack Whitehall, is in it.

Person

James. Not only did he consent to letting me put his writing on to the internet for the world to see, but he's been my motivation to write on this blog every day. He's been gone for a couple of days this week and I seriously thought about giving up but I know how secretly disappointed he's be if I gave up so I powered through. Now it's becoming a little more routine to me so I guess I'm glad he was there. He's like the little tiny cartoon angel that sits on my shoulder whenever I've got a decision to make. He's hilarious and ridiculously loyal and, even if I might not show it, I'm so glad that he's stuck by me, even if I have been a mega-bitch to him in the past. As a token of my appreciation for everything he's done for me in the year I've known him, I'm gonna try and become a better person. I know that s soon as he reads this, he's going to give me the whole "you don't have to change anything" speech but I want to be the kind of friend he deserves and the kind of friend he has been to me. Thank you James.
